Bookstore Inspirations

It takes a village, isn't that the start to a popular age-old saying?

We're just one of hundreds of independent bookstores across this nation. Through our manufacturing work at Franklin Fixtures, we've been fortunate to meet and get to know so many of their owners. This page is dedicated to some of those who have a special place in our heart (and yes, Franklin Fixtures built part or all of these stores' fixtures!). We hope that if you ever get the chance to pop in and visit one of these stores during a journey you do it!

Story & Song

Welcome to Story & Song Bookstore Bistro, where you’ll discover a unique confluence of a bookstore, café and Secret Garden courtyard, card and gift shop, art gallery, and performance venue all under one roof, nestled at the entrance to Amelia Park, a beautiful mid-island traditional neighborhood.

The Village Well

We are a community-focused & impact-driven bookstore-café in the heart of Downtown Culver City. Supporting the community is part of our DNA. We regularly explore various social causes and encourage the community to learn, share ideas, and lend a hand.

It is a third place where we go for rest and nourishment between home and work. A place where neighbors have surprise encounters, and people who might otherwise be feeling lonely at home can be surrounded by the comfort of lively, friendly human interaction.

Unlikely Story

On the site of the historic Falk's Market, Julie and Jeff Kinney have created a cornerstone in downtown Plainville with an indie bookstore, a café and an event space.  An Unlikely Story Bookstore and Café is a beautiful community gathering place where you can meet amazing authors, enjoy breakfast or lunch, or relax with your new book and a beer (or glass of wine).

Prologue Books

At Prologue Bookshop, we value the power of reading and literature, and the connections that come with being a local bookstore in a global world. We’re proud to be local and independent, and we’re glad that you’re choosing to shop local with us today.

Books Are Magic.jpg

Books Are Magic

Books Are Magic is a family-owned independent bookstore in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, and we are committed to being a welcoming, friendly, and inclusive space for all people. We believe that books are indeed magic, and that literature is the best way to create empathy, transportation, and transformation. We are enthusiastic about offering thoughtfully selected voices and stories on our shelves, and about hosting free and affordable events featuring emerging writers as well as long-adored authors. Books Are Magic is a place for children to feel comfortable, for young readers to grow into lifelong readers, and for our neighbors to be introduced to vibrant new books.
